how many pixels you're showing on the screen. Apple made the mac II, launched desktop publishing and started talking about DPI, but then carried that over to displays, as PPI. I'm always disturbed by the great DPI catastrophe of 1987. ![]() I hope this gives some useful perspective. I've relegated infrequently referenced stuff to be up there, and all is well. I'm glad I made the change, except that the top 20% or so of the display screen really is too high out of my visual line of sight to be comfortably usable. The speakers have been lowered, and now are at a more gentle 6-degree angle. It essentially fills all of the space between the speakers. I decided to take the risk of imaging issues and/or altered audio response and put a 55-inch (diagonal) '4k' UHD screen in between the speakers. The original layout had a 30-inch Apple Cinema in the center, flanked by two 24-inch Dell HD displays with the speakers above them, pointing downward at a 12-degree angle. ![]() I recently went through this same exercise starting with the advantage that the equilateral triangle of me and my speakers was about 5-feet (1.5-meters) on a side. There are lots of threads on Gearslutz about displays we'll try to avoid confusion by not using the term 'monitor'.Īs you've noted, the geometry of where you sit relative to your speakers is a great determinant of the limits you'll encounter when choosing a display. ![]() Measuring my desk setup shows that a screen bigger than 27" might start to interfere with my speaker line of sight.Since it has been less than a day since you've posted, I doubt enough people have seen your question yet to get the quorum you'd need before some begin to respond.
